Alia is out to do big things

By Isaac Uzaan

We just need to stop getting distracted by things that have nothing to do with our goals of fixing Benue and institutionalizing development in the state. Our plan is to do big things for the state and we cannot do big things if we are distracted by small things.

The long drama of criticism started when Local Government Chairmen of APC in the state were forced to issue a communique condemning Governor Alia for not carrying them along and threatening to stage a protest against the Governor.

Another beautiful episode was when high profiled legislators played minor roles of posting letters on social media and showing the Facebook community how immature they could possibly become by pulling down the portrait of their Governor from their office.

We have watched scenes of snide remarks on the Governor by social media surrogates sponsored by the very aggrieved members of the National Assembly.and some stakeholders who feel that their personal interests are not being massaged

We want to make it known to everyone that:

1. Governor Alia has chosen development of Benue State over and above feeding party stakeholders.with state resources.

2. The Governor cannot encourage poor development trajectory by rewarding the same set of people who denied the state of its true greatness.

3. The Governor is always accessible. He is available in the state. Those who want to see him are always seeing him.

4. Most of our representatives at the National Assembly have not come home since they won election. Most of them have not even come home to say thank you to the people that voted them into office. How then would they access the Governor if they refuse to come home?

5. It’s laughable that they could not even answer all the questions asked by journalists, including what efforts they have made to see the Governor.

6. We call on the National Assembly APC Caucus headed by Senator Titus Zam to make conscious efforts to discipline themselves into actually prioritizing what really needs to be prioritized.

7. A member of the national assembly is considered to be the representative of the people of his or her constituency. He or she is expected to pass legislation to meet the needs of his or her constituents.

8. He is not a wager of war. Our people were not sent at the national assembly to mount podiums of vituperation and unjust criticisms at the Governor.

9. National legislators are inspired individuals committed to making a difference for their constituents. They are responsible for promoting the interests of their constituents throughout the public policy process and providing direct services to constituents.

10. Our National Assembly APC Caucus have sadly misplaced that priority which is supposed to be the most important. None of them has done anything worth reckoning for their constituents for the past six months.

We call on them to drive home development for their constituents. They should better wake up to the reality that now is time for development. It is the time for Benue civil servants to receive their wages as workers.

Now is the time to live out the true meaning of democracy – a system of government in which state power is vested in the people or the general population of the state, not necessarily party stakeholders.
