Governors Alia, Kefas, confirm attendance at 7th Daily Asset annual awards

Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia and his Taraba state counterpart, Dr Agbu Kefas have confirmed their participation and personal attendance at the 7th DAILY ASSET Annual Awards.

Their confirmation came as the management of Asset Newspapers Limited, publishers of DAILY ASSET said the annual event will hold on Feb.

8, at the NICON Luxury Hotel, Central Business District, Abuja.
The two governors were nominated by the newspaper’s Editorial Board as joint winners of the Governor of the year category.

Their nomination and others in various categories was published in the paper’s edition of Dec.

Dr Alia, who confirmed his participation through his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula said he was grateful for the recognition by the newspaper noting that he was humbled to be identified for the great honour.

On his part, Kefas, who met last week with the management of the newspaper company said he was humbled that his genuine efforts to develop Taraba State were noticed by the newspaper’s editors, who nominated him for the award.

Also, former Executive Director Exploration and Production of the defunct Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Chief Executive Officer of BEE Enegry Consulting Limited, Engr Abiye Membere has similarly, accepted his nomination for the Life Time Achievement Award.

In a letter dated Dec 27, 2023 addressed to the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, Membere said he was appreciative of his recognition for the award.

“I extend my sincere gratitude to the Board, Management, and staff of ASSET Newspapers Limited for the esteemed honor of being selected for the DAILY ASSET Lifetime Achievement Award 2023. It is with great humility and appreciation that I accept this recognition.

“I am profoundly honored that the Editorial Board found merit in my professional journey within the international oil companies and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

“Your acknowledgment of the milestones achieved in the oil and gas sector is deeply encouraging.

“I graciously accept the award and look forward to attending the presentation ceremony scheduled for Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the NICON Luxury Hotel in the Central Business District, Abuja.

“Your acknowledgment has not only touched me personally but also serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire team of BEE Energy Consulting Company Limited,” the letter said.

On his part, Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Prof. Osimone Okechuckwu, who is the nominee for the Vice Chancellor of the Year award said he was appreciative of the decision by the editorial board to nominate him.

“I refer to your letter dated 14th December, 2023 and hereby convey the Vice Chancellor’s acceptance of his nomination for the award. I am also to convey his appreciation of his nomination for the award,” the Special Assistant to to the Vice Chancellor, EC Okoye said in the latter.

Corporate giant, Opay Digital Services Limited, which was nominated for the Company of the Year (Fintech category) award in a letter dated December 21, 2023 said, “ We are delighted to inform you that we will be available for the award ceremony at the specified date and time.

“This nomination holds great significance for us and we are truly honoured to be acknowledged in this manner.”

Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the Abuja-based daily, Dr Cletus Akwaya in a statement at the weekend said The DAILY ASSET NEWSPAPERS Annual Awards Ceremony, which is in its 7th edition, has become a formidable platform, where Nigerians from all walks of life who have distinguished themselves are recognized and honoured.

“The objective of the awards is to promote the culture of excellence and also build role models for the younger generation to inspire and emulate,” the statement said in part.

“The previous editions were held with much panache and style and this year’s edition promises to be even better as we improve on the arrangements and processes,” Akwaya, a former Commissioner of Information in Benue State was quoted to have said in the statement.

It urged those specially invited and members of the public to grace the event to celebrate “people of excellence”.
