Nigeria’s weightlifting team continued where it left off on Monday at the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana with six gold medals on Tuesday, March 12.
After claiming nine medals on Monday, Team Nigeria weightlifters proved themselves again.
Competing in the 64kg class, Ruth Ayodele lifted a total 208kg, 94kg in snatch and 114kg in clean and jerk to claim all three gold medals in the event.
Joy Eze followed suit in the women’s 71kg class, with a total 207kg, 90kg in snatch and 117kg in clean and jerk.
These bring Nigeria’s medal haul to 47 including 22 gold, 10 silver and 15 bronze.
