Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ado local government area of Benue State, Barrister Ochai Onazi, on Thursday, expressed concern about attack and attempt to murder the member house of representatives for Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo federal constituency, chief Philip Agbese.

Chief Agbese had gone to Igumale, headquarters of Ado local government area to distribute Easter packages to his supporters when the thugs came to attacked him and his supporters.

Onazi who spoke to journalists in Makurdi, said Chief Agbese, had scheduled a programme at Igumale community in Ado Local Government Area this morning to celebrate the Easter with his supporters and other stakeholders, when some people suspected to be thugs came to disrupt the event.

He said all the APC stakeholders were sited at the event which took place at Igumale public square before the armed thugs came to launched attack principally on chief Agbese.

“When they heard we were to hold a meeting, early this morning, thugs led by our opponent, broke into the venue of the event, scattered everything and attempted to kill the honourable house of representatives, Chief Philip Agbese.

“It took the intervention of the military for Okanga to escape the venue.

“The security operatives that were attached to the honourable member tried to intervene and the boys were cocking gun and saying that everybody will die here and all that”.

The APC leader therefore called on security agencies in the State to go after those behind the attack and bring them to book.

“Chief Agbese was in Igumale to distribute Easter packages to his supporters. He bought several items including wrappers, rice and other things for the vulnerable women in our community but these destroyed everything.

“The attack was unprovoked, unwarranted and underserved and must be condemnable.

“The person(s) who sent these boys do not mean well for our people and does not deserve to be a leader or talk of representing our people.

“Thank God the army has arrested some of the boys and it is my believe that more of them will be arrested”, Onazi stated.

The APC leader therefore called on security agencies in the State to go after those behind the attack and bring them to book.
