The National President of Kuru Old Students Association (KOSA), Dr Musa Wen Ibrahim has disclosed that the Alumni has so far established a Trust Fund for the development of the school, tagged: “The Kuru Science School Education Trust Fund.”
The Kosa President said the Fund will primarily be used for the upliftment of the school in both physical, structural, educational and will provide scholarships to exceptional students of the school to Nigeria universities.
Addressing members of the association at the 2024 Special National Convention of Kuru Old Boys Association held at the school at weekend, Ibrahim noted that the school required the intervention of old boys in the areas of educational materials, infrastructure and scholarships to indigent students who have passion for studies.
He noted that they are committed to bringing various interventions on board towards the revival of the 80 years old science school for both national and global competition in the world of science.
In his words, “We hereby proposed the establishment of a Trust Fund for the development of the school, tagged: ‘The Kuru Science School Education Trust Fund’ which will primarily be used for the upliftment of the school in both physical, structural, educational and will provide scholarships to exceptional students of the school to Nigeria universities.”
He breaks the cheering news to younger students of the college.The Trust Fund he said is to be Chaired by the Gbong Gwom Jos, HRM Da Dr Jacob Gyang Buba KOSA set 71, and the Emir of Wase Alh Dr Muhammed Haruna Sambo KOSA set 86 as alternate-Chairman of the Fund with Tijani Muhammad Bororo, KOSA set 74 as the Secretary among other members of the Board of Trustees of the Fund respectively.
Earlier on, the Guest Speaker at the 2024 Special National Convention of Kuru Old Boys Association (KOSA), Prof. Clement Dakas while delivering a paper on the theme: “Celebrating Milestone, Embracing Memories and Building the Future” charged the Old students to give attention to the revitalization of the science school towards harnessing the potential of the 21st century knowledge economy for the development of the state and country at large.
Dakas noted thus, “Today we live in a knowledge economy, and at the heart of that knowledge economy is science. Is science that drives the world. We are in the age of the fourth industrial revolution, and so, science has a critical place to play in puting the agenda forward.
”So, the old students working with organizations, relevant government ministries and agencies in collaboration with the management of science school Kuru will make it an IT Hub and innovation Center,” he stated.
Dakas noted Nigeria can not be operating with an antiquated curriculum in the 21st century and called for the review of educational curriculum in order to meet global best practices.”Curriculum review is very critical, we can not be living in a knowledge economy and then we have to grapple with antiquated curriculum.
”The world changes literally everyday and it is important that even at the level of secondary schools to ensure that we have curriculum review that can stand with modern trend and global best practices,” he reiterated
