Benue state govt, Gamint Corporate Ltd, Uni Cloud Africa Limited, others set to establish BDIC

The Benue State Government and Gamint Corporate Ltd have embarked on a transformative journey by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Uni Cloud Africa Limited and fifteen (15) other companies as service providers and technical partners for BDIC in Abuja.

This collaboration marks the birth of the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC), a pioneering initiative aimed at revolutionizing digital services across the region.

The signing ceremony, hosted at the Huawei Technologies Ltd Conference Hall in Abuja, was graced by esteemed dignitaries including His Excellency Barr. Dr. Sam Ode mni, Deputy Governor of Benue State and Chairman of the BDIC Implementation Committee, Barr. Mnyin, Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Public Order, Hon. Kwaghgba Amande, Hon. Commissioner for Communication and Digital Economy, Hon. Seember Wayo, Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Legal Matters, Mr. Terwase Hembaor Gbande, the CEO of Gamint Corporate Ltd, and Consultant to Benue State Government on BDIC.

Also in attendance were representatives from National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), National Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Galaxy Backbone Ltd, Bank of Industry, alongside various technical partners and service providers.

The BDIC project represents a substantial investment in Benue State’s digital future, with a focus on providing high-speed internet access, enhancing digital literacy, and driving technological innovation throughout the state. This partnership underscores the government’s commitment to creating a digitally inclusive society, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.

In its inaugural year, BDIC plans to establish digital hubs across all twenty-three local government council areas of Benue State and aims to train forty-six thousand youths, empowering them with essential digital skills and tools.

His Excellency Barr. Dr. Sam Ode mni, Deputy Governor of Benue State and Chairman BDIC Implementation Committee, remarked, “This MOU signifies a critical milestone in our efforts of His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. HYACINTH IORMEM ALIA’S, led administration to bridge the digital divide in Benue State. The establishment of BDIC will not only bolster our digital infrastructure but also unlock new opportunities for our youth, stimulate local businesses, and position Benue State as a beacon of technological innovation.”

Mr. Gbande, CEO of Gamint Corporate Ltd and Consultant on BDIC, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are privileged to collaborate with the Benue State Government on this transformative project. The company will collaborate closely with local and international partners to implement robust digital infrastructure, encompassing high-speed broadband networks, smart city solutions, and comprehensive digital education programs.
