By Bem Kator, Reporting on the campaign train
Hon. Richard Imoter Nomkpo, a prominent political figure in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and candidate in the upcoming elections, addressed an enthusiastic gathering of party faithfuls across the local government area on yesterday, Tuesday, 3rd September, 2024.
In his speech at the various campaign rallies to speak to the fantastic people of Nanev, Shangev-ya, Ikurav-ya and Turan respectively, he passionately urged the people of Kwande Local Government Area to cast their votes in his favor, emphasizing the critical importance of teaming up with Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia to bring about transformative development in both urban and rural communities.
Hon. Nomkpo, who has long been a staunch advocate for progress in Kwande in particular and Benue state at large, articulated a clear vision for the future of the local government area.
While narrating his background in terms of place of birth and education as well as his political participation, he highlighted the need for strategic development initiatives that would open up both urban and rural areas, improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, and overall quality of life for the greater majority.
“We are at a pivotal moment in our history. Our beloved Kwande Local Government Area is in dire need of leaders who are not only committed to progress but are also ready to collaborate effectively with Governor Alia to ensure that our communities thrive. I am fully committed to this cause, and I need your support to make it a reality”, he added.
He further noted that Governor Alia has laid a strong foundation for growth across Benue State, but emphasized that the full potential of Kwande could only be realized through effective local leadership.
He used the occasion to pledge to work closely with the governor to bring about projects that would enhance road networks, agricultural productivity, and economic opportunities for the people.
His speech was interjected with a resounding rounds of applause and positive interjections just as it was marked by enthusiasm and support, with many attendees expressing their confidence in Nomkpo’s ability to deliver on his promises.
The event also featured displays of drumming skills by young bandsmen as well as speeches from other notable leaders who echoed the call for unity and strategic voting in his favour.
Our correspondent who is on the campaign train reports that as the election period draws closer, Hon. Richard Imoter Nomkpo’s message is currently resonating with a broad spectrum of voters in Kwande.
It could be recalled the the frontline aspirant had scaled through all the processes such as purchase of the nomination and expression of interest forms, screening by the party at both the ward, council and state levels.
His camp remains optimistic that, by the special grace of God, their preferred aspirant will emerge victorious.
