In an update to Arkbound`s planned book,, the chapter content to be written by Nigerian climate justice activist Gbadema Solomon Ofure has been confirmed. With some mentoring input from Arkbound, Gbadema will be writing on the potential ecological transformation of Nigerian society, including a focus on the empowerment of local communities, the empowerment of women, the appropriate use of technology, and a short section asking what can be learnt from the history of the resistance of the Ogoni people against Shell Oil.
Gbadema will also look at how Nigerian society can be more resilient against global shocks caused by the climate crisis, ecological overshoot and the ongoing decline of global industrial civilization. Gbadema`s chapter will be carefully balanced against other chapters in the book, including the introductory chapter by British activist climate scientist Professor Bill McGuire, and the Australian socio-ecological justice platform Just Collapse.
It is with great pleasure that Arkbound welcomes a Nigerian, Gbadema Solomon Ofure, to this volume. Nigeria has the largest English-speaking population of all the countries in Africa, so it is certain that Gbadema`s essay will be spread far and wide.
However, the book is not certain unless the publication costs can be raised by crowdfunding.
