By Ekuson Nw’Ogbunka, Abuja

Minister of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has ordered the immediate demolition of illegal structures at the Sabon Lugbe South District Layout in the FCT.

In a press release made available to media houses by the Assistant Director, Press, Office of the Minister, Rabi Musa Umar, the FCT Minister gave the order in Abuja on Tuesday, when he paid an unscheduled visit to the site of the illegal structures at Sabon Lugbe in company of the Heads of the various Security Agencies in the territory.

Reiterating that buildings without proper documents from the FCT Administration (FCTA) will be demolished and describing the developers as land grabbers, he said the structures were built without the approval of the Development Control Department, in contravention of the land use provision of the FCT.

He said: “You can see they are all land grabbers without documents and we are not going to allow that.”

The Minister thus directed the Director, the Department of Development Control, Town Planner Mukhtar Galadima to liaise with the various security agencies in the demolition of the illegal structures and recovery of the land, adding that the security personnel will arrest anyone who obstructs the demolition exercise.
