FCT minister flags off road upgrading project in Bwari Area Council

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has launched the upgrading of the War College/Army Checkpoint and other ancillary roads within the Bwari Area Council.

This initiative, according a press release from Anthony Ogunleye Monday, the Director Press, Office of the Minister, the project is part of the FCT Administration’s (FCTA’s) efforts to bridge the infrastructure gap between the satellite towns and the city center.

In his remarks during the flag-off exercise on Monday, Barr. Wike emphasized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing the living conditions of residents in the satellite towns through vital infrastructure development. He noted that the project’s award to an indigenous contractor demonstrates the President’s dedication to empowering local communities and indigenous businesses.

This development follows the Minister’s earlier initiatives, including the construction of 5 km roads in each of the six FCT Area Councils, as part of the Renewed Hope mandate ¹. The FCT Administration has been working tirelessly to rekindle the hope of residents and reassure them of the President’s commitment to their well-being.

Key highlights of the project, according to the release, include upgrading of War College/Army Checkpoint and ancillary roads, which was awarded to an indigenous contractor. The move, the release went on, demonstrates Mr President’s commitment to empowering local populace and indigenous contractors.

Another is that it is a part of the FCTA’s efforts to bridge infrastructure gap between satellite towns and city center.

Residents are, however urged to support the project’s success by paying their ground rent and other taxes promptly, as the FCTA remains committed to delivering on its promises and improving the lives of all residents.
