Senator Monday Okpebholo has bid farewell to the Senate, marking the end of his tenure as a senator representing Edo Central Senatorial district. In his valedictory speech, Okpebholo expressed his gratitude to his colleagues, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and other principal officers for their support during his time in the Senate.
Okpebholo, who joined the 10th Senate in June 2023, left barely a year later to pursue his dream of becoming Governor of Edo State, a position he now occupies. He acknowledged the significant role his colleagues played in his journey, saying their support, advice, and prayers were “awesome.”
The Senator specifically thanked Senate President Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele for their encouragement and guidance throughout his campaign period.
As Okpebholo begins his new role as Governor of Edo State, his seat in the Senate has been declared vacant by Senate President Akpabio, who has also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct elections to fill the vacant seat.
