The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has flagged off the construction of a 15-kilometer road in Kwali Area Council, aimed at connecting the Abuja city centre to rural areas.
This was contained in a press release from the Director of Press, Office of the Minister, Anthony Ogunleye on Tuesday.
According to Barr. Wike, the provision of rural infrastructure will bridge the disconnect between the Abuja city centre and the FCT Area Councils, while also discouraging rural-urban migration.¹
The 15-kilometer A2 to Pai road project links the Abuja-Lokoja expressway to the Pai Community in Kwali Area Council. Barr. Wike observed that the absence of a good motorable road had hindered the connection between the Abuja Lokoja Expressway and the Pai Community.
The Minister expressed confidence in the contractor’s ability to deliver the project within the stipulated timeframe of 12 months, with adequate funding assured.
The Coordinator, Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, said the road project will be provided with all the facilities of a well-designed road, including streetlights and drainages.
The traditional ruler, Etsu Kwali, HRH Luka Ayedo Nizasaan, presented a symbolic letter of indigene of Kwali to the FCT Minister, in appreciation of the Minister’s developmental efforts in the Area Council.
