The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has presented 50 brand new operational vehicles to security agencies in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to support the fight against insecurity.

These were contained in a press release from the Assistant Director Press, Office of the FCT Minister, Rabi Musa Umar on Thursday.

This donation brings the total number of operational vehicles provided by the FCT Administration (FCTA) to 100, following an earlier donation of 50 vehicles.

During the presentation ceremony, Minister Wike emphasized that security is a priority of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu. He urged the security agencies to utilize the vehicles to protect lives and property in the Abuja city centre and satellite towns, and to take the war to the criminals instead of waiting for them to strike.

Wike also commended the security agencies for their efforts, noting an improvement in the FCT’s security situation, particularly a reduction in kidnapping incidents in rural areas. He pledged the continued support of the FCT Administration and announced that 12 police divisions are being constructed in the six Area Councils of the FCT, which will be completed and handed over to the police by April next year.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, thanked the Minister for the donation, stating that it underscores the FCT Administration’s commitment to enhancing the operational capacity of security agencies. Disu added that the vehicles will improve their ability to respond to emergencies, conduct patrols, and implement other policing initiatives.

Chairmen of the Senate Committee on Area Councils and the House of Representatives Committee on FCT, Senator David Jimkuta and Hon Aliyu Mukhtar Betara, respectively commended the FCT Minister for his support to the security agencies and pledged the continued support of the National Assembly.
