Deputy President of the Senate Barau I. Jibrin has emphasized the need for a collaborative effort to address the growing security challenges in Northern Nigeria, particularly in Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State.

Senator Jibrin made this call while contributing to a motion sponsored by Senator Anthony Yaro, representing Gombe South Senatorial District. The motion was in response to a recent bandit attack in Billiri LGA that resulted in loss of lives and injuries.

Jibrin extended his condolences to the affected communities and called for swift action to prevent future occurrences. He emphasized that security is a collective responsibility, requiring the active participation of federal and state governments, individuals, and communities.

The Deputy Senate President also acknowledged the concerns raised by Senator Abdul Ningi, stressing that the government has a critical role to play in restoring peace and security in the affected areas.

In his contribution, Jibrin reiterated the importance of a unified approach to addressing the security challenges, saying, “We shouldn’t allow them to remain alone; we should support them.”
