The Nigerian Senate has announced plans to suspend plenary sessions for two weeks upon resumption on January 14, 2025. This decision is aimed at facilitating the consideration of the N49.7 trillion 2025 budget at the committee level, which commences today, January 7, 2025.
As part of this process, the Senate has scheduled an open day for Thursday, January 9, 2025, to allow various stakeholders, including heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), to provide input on the budget.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, stated that the reports on the 2025 Appropriation bill will be laid before the Senate and the House of Representatives on January 31, 2025, although this date is tentative.
