Ministry of Education partners BSU on Faculty of Engineering Adikpo

…interface with consultants

The Honorable Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Rev. Dr. Frederick Ikyaan has said that the mandate from government is to partner with management of Benue state University, Makurdi to actualise the establishment of Faculty of Engineering at Adikpo in Kwande local government.

The Commissioner stated this in Makurdi during an interactive meeting with management of the University, led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joe Tor Iorapuu and consultants on the project held at the Ministry’s headquarters.

He said the interaction is aimed at receiving inputs towards the realisation of the objectives while acknowledging the demonstration of capacity by the Consultants, saying, it remains proof.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joe Tor Iorapuu on his part said as a University, they are ready to expand, suggesting the inclusion of faculty of Technology and Industrial Studies in the plans while charging the University team to think ahead.

There was a presentation from China Railway Beiding Engineering Nigeria Limited (CRBE) led by the General Manager, Zhang Yunzhou that demonstrated their capacity and expressed their readiness to deliver on the assignment.

In another Presentation by Arc. Gideon Agber of Durable Consultants on the proposed building for the faculty including: Offices, Classrooms, workshops, toilets and central ram for the physically challenged while recommending other facilities like access road, layout and transit accommodation for Lecturers.

Other contributors including Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Prof. S. T. Ubwa, Dean, Faculty of Technology and Industrial Studies, Prof. Solomon Agishi, Professor Benedict Labe, Bursar, Mr. Egwurube, Arc. Sen and Elijah Hime variously stressed the need for expansion to accommodate the two faculties, drawing of a master plan to capture more facilities.

Other consultants like: Kelvin Rita Investment Nig. Ltd, Avnet Integrated Global Services Ltd, I.U. Thinisco amongst others had done their presentations before but were also in attendance.

The Meeting equally had the newly posted Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Helen Nambativ, Director, Administration and Supply, Mr. Nic Joko, Director, Tertiary Education, Mr. Emmanuel Ochee and Director, Education Support Services, Mrs. Saamo Sember.
