The Federal Government has taken a significant step towards improving the country’s road infrastructure with the approval of N4.2 trillion naira for the construction of the Lagos-Calabar road and other major highways and bridges across the country.

This decision was made at the Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday, February 3, 2025.

The massive road infrastructure projects are aimed at addressing the deplorable state of federal road networks nationwide and rehabilitating some of them.

This move is in line with the policy thrust of the current administration of President Ahmad Bola Tinubu to revamp the road infrastructure challenges and boost socio-economic development.

The Senate has commended President Tinubu for this bold initiative, stating that it will improve the effective transport system and address the challenges faced by road users.

The Lagos-Calabar road project is expected to enhance connectivity between the southern states and promote economic growth.

In addition to the Lagos-Calabar road, other major highways and bridges will also be constructed or rehabilitated with the approved funds.

This will not only improve road safety but also reduce travel time and increase economic activities across the country.

The Federal Government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure is a welcome development, and the approval of N4.2 trillion naira is a significant step towards achieving this goal.

The project is expected to create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and improve the overall quality of life for Nigerians.

The construction of the Lagos-Calabar road and other highways will also have a positive impact on the country’s transportation sector. It will increase the efficiency of goods transportation, reduce logistics costs, and make Nigeria’s roads more competitive.

As the project takes off, it is expected that the government will ensure transparency and accountability in the use of funds.

The Nigerian people will be eager to see the impact of this massive investment on the country’s road infrastructure.

In conclusion, the approval of N4.2 trillion naira for the construction of the Lagos-Calabar road and other highways is a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure.

The project has the potential to transform the country’s transportation sector, promote economic growth, and improve the quality of life for Nigerians.
