Former Chief of Staff hails FCT Minister for performance in infrastructure

A prominent figure in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) politics, Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko (Likta), a former Chief of Staff to the immediate executive chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council of the FCT, has shared his thoughts on various issues affecting the territory, as the nation’s capital.

He commended the performance of the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, noting that the senators’ overwhelming support is a testament to his effectiveness.

When asked, he said that the lawmaker
representing nthe AMAC Bwari Federal Constituency of the FCT, Honourable Joshua Chinedu Obika is doing well, but he charged him to do more, for Abuja, as the capital of Nigeria to be able to complete favourably with other capital cities of the world.

He also praised Chinedu Obika’s efforts, saying he is doing better than Senator Ireti Kingibe.

On the teachers’ strike, Likita urged the government to listen to the demands of striking teachers in the FCT, emphasizing the need for a resolution that considers the welfare of the children.

He called on the FCT chairmen and Minister to work together to address the issue.

Speaking on the demand for representation in North Central Development Commission (NCDC) by FCT aborigines,

Likita expressed his disapproval of the exclusion of FCT aborigines from the NCDC, advocating for equity and representation.

He stressed that using someone from Benue to represent the FCT is unacceptable and that the right thing should be done at the right time.

On his stepping down and supporting Maikalangu’s re-election bid, Likita reiterated his decision to step down in favor of incumbent AMAC Chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, by citing party unity and interests.

To that, he said that he has directed his supporters to join Maikalangu’s movement, ensuring a strong foundation for his re-election bid.

On expectations from Maikalangu’s administration, has this to say: “With Maikalangu now in the APC, we shall ensure that his administration delivers more dividends of democracy, including the construction of more roads in Idu.”

He remains optimistic about the future, praying for long life and good health.
