Comrade Darlington Nwauju, a prominent youth and political leader in the Niger Delta, has congratulated Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on his second anniversary in office, describing his achievements as “simply superlative performance.” Nwauju, spokesperson for the Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC), made the commendation on behalf of thousands of young Nigerians.
In a statement, the youth leader highlighted the Minister’s impressive accomplishments, including the promotion of over 100,000 officers and men of paramilitary agencies, prioritization of inmate welfare, and justice delivery in correctional centers.
He also noted the completion of ultra-modern furniture, leather, and shoe factories as part of rehabilitation and skills acquisition for inmates.
The Minister’s efforts have led to the release of over 4,000 inmates who were serving avoidable jail terms, following the mobilization of N585 million through corporate bodies to pay fines for these inmates.
Additionally, Dr. Tunji-Ojo has cleared a backlog of over 200,000 passports, established enhanced e-passport facilities in Europe, and launched contactless biometric passports.
Commending the Minister for establishing a Civil Defence Mining Marshall, which has boosted revenue earnings for the nation in the mining sector from N6 billion to N48 billion, and setting up a paramilitary academy. recently, he disclosed that Minister secured Presidential approval to employ 30,000 Nigerians through paramilitary agencies under his Ministry.
“The Minister has served as the number one ambassador of the renewed hope agenda of Mr. President, setting solid performance benchmarks and making the younger generation of Nigerians proud,” the politician stated.
