The Benue State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed seven (7) commissioner nominees submitted by the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.
Those screened and confirmed include:
1. Hon. Ugbu Ameh Odoh
2. Hon. Kunde Aondowase
3. Hon. Kwaghgba Amande
4. Hon. Joseph Ter Jie
5. Hon. Tiza Orya Imojime
The House also reconsidered and confirmed the nominations of:
6. Dr. Yangien Timothy Ornguga
7. Hon. James Dwem, whose nomination was earlier rejected on the grounds of petitions.
During plenary, the House further lifted the suspension of:
1. Hon. Maxwell Ogiri (Executive Chairman, Otukpo Local Government Council)
2. Dr. Grace Adagba (Chairman, SUBEB)
3. Mr. Michael Uper (Executive Secretary, Benue State Lottery Commission)
Their reinstatement followed a letter of apology addressed to the House leadership and duly signed by those previously suspended.
In another development, the House suspended former Speaker, Hon. Aondona Dajoh, for three months following a motion moved by Hon. Emmanuel Shimawuan (Kyan Constituency) and seconded by Hon. Abu Umoru (Apa Constituency), alleging a failed impeachment plot against His Excellency, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, on 22nd August 2025.
Also, during plenary, Hon. Kennedy Angbo resigned his position as Deputy Majority Leader, and the Speaker, Rt.Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga, reappointed Hon. Ikong Ijebe Cyril (Oju II Constituency) as Deputy Majority Leader.
