… Cautions the President against telling international lies to convince investors
By Hyacinth Eku, Abuja
The National President Eastern Union, a socio-cultural group protecting the interests of the old Eastern Nigeria, Hon. Charles C Anike has criticised the remark made by President Bola Tinubu that there is no more corruption in Nigeria since he took over power in 2023.
Recall that President Tinubu had on Monday, met with Brazilian investors where he assured them that Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms are delivering tangible results.
He further assured the investors that there is “no more corruption” in the country since he took office in 2023.
“It’s getting clearer to the people. We have more money for the economy, and no more corruption”, President Tinubu said.
But in a strongly worded statement on Thursday, in Abuja, titled liars in the high places, Hon. Anike, noted that “President Tinubu would not have said anything different, because he is currently the head and leader of the corrupt team in the Country.
“So we know and even the people he spoke to, knew he was saying the opposite. I can tell you for free that President Tinubu was just playing with words and his host knew.
“The major problem with most of our leaders in Nigeria is ignorance, yes ignorance of the obvious fact that the foreigners and of course the International Community are very much aware of everything going on in Nigeria.
“If you tells them that Nigeria is now a safe Haven and that insecurity is now a thing of the past, then that means you have forgotten that every nation of the World is having their citizens living here in Nigeria who would always present the real fact and honest situation to their government.
“There are some obvious lies our leaders must avoid. Just few weeks ago the Canadian Court declared that the two leading political parties in Nigeria are terrorists organizations, which the President happens to be a member and overnight the same President is claiming to his host Country that since he came to power, corruption is gone.
“He forgot that those people are not like us, because they must always carry out a background check and do due diligence before embarking on any adventure.
Hon. Anike cautioned that the the “President should not waste his time and Nigeria resources going about telling international lies to convince investors to come to invest in Nigeria, rather he should look inwards and do the needful…fix the Country he played and still playing a major role do destroy.
“He forgot that he is among those listed by the genuine EFCC as most corrupt leaders. The record is still there, so how comes that overnight a bad tree is now bearing good fruit.
“Those lies are childish lies and the President should desist from that. The World knows our history and they keep records, he can continue to borrow money from them with stringent conditions that will continue to keep us down but to convince them to invest here is fever dreams.
“All that the President is looking for outside are in abundance and wasting here in Nigeria but the Bible says ‘my people perish for lack of knowledge’. Both the President his team, and all of them in the corridors of power lacks knowledge of what how they can achieve successes in the Country for the benefit of joy of all.
He observed that their focus and mindset is their major problem.
“Their focus is not how to build the Country but how to loot and who can loot more than the other. But Nigeria will surely outlive them,” he concluded.
