Kinsley Chijioke Offor, a prominent businessman in Okigwe, Imo State, has made a heartfelt appeal to Commissioner of Police (CP), Danjuma Aboki of Imo State to not only stop his Tiger Base Squad from allegedly, intimidating and harassing him, but also return all the money and valuables they allegedly made away with from his compound around 11 pm on 16 April, 2025.
Making the appeal while addressing journalists over the weekend, Offor and his friend also appealed to the Senate, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Nigeria’s President and other relevant authorities to intervene in his ongoing ordeal with the Tiger Base police unit.
According to them, on April 16, 2025, at approximately 11 pm, officers from the Tiger Base allegedly, raided Offor’s compound, breaking into six flats and making away with substantial amounts of cash and valuables.
The police operation, under CSP Ola, resulted in the following, taking of cash and valuables from six flats, including Offor’s apartment. Offor’s wife, Kosarachi, according to them was whisked away to the police station and detained for a long time without bail.
Offor also claims that the police planted a loaded AK-47 rifle and another firearm in his apartment to incriminate him, adding that the police discharged tear gas, affecting the health of Offor’s children, and destroyed television sets, fans, and other items.
Despite Offor’s efforts to seek justice, the Tiger Base has refused to respond to allegations and invitations from the police headquarters. The police have also failed to provide any evidence to support their claims of busting a criminal hideout. Offor has been visiting the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters and Police Service Commission daily, seeking action and resolution.
He is therefore appealing to the Senate, IGP, and relevant Authorities to step in to address the situation, conduct forensic test and a comprehensive investigation into the allegations to determine the ownership of the planted AK-47 rifle, return the stolen cash, documents, and licensed pump-action gun, and ensure Offor’s freedom and protection from further harassment, to enable him reunite with his family.
Offor’s case highlights the need for police accountability and transparency. The authorities must investigate the allegations and take necessary actions to restore trust and ensure justice is served. By intervening, the Senate, IGP, and relevant authorities can help resolve the situation and bring peace to Offor and his family.
However, when contacted, CSP Henry Okoye, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Imo State Police Command, advised Offor to either come to his office or write to the Office of the Public Relations in Imo Command. Okoye while stating that he had never heard about the matter condemned the allegation, promising that the police in Owerri, known for condemnation of injustice and high-handedness of any kind, promised that they will conduct a thorough investigation about the matter. He also promised that should the allegations turn out to be true, the personnel who carried act will be sanctioned seriously.
