The NSCDC’s Special Intelligence Squad has thwarted a kidnapping attempt in the Bukan-Ari area of Lafia, Nasarawa State, rescuing a Customs officer, his wife, and another person.
According to a press release from CSC Afolabi Babawale the Public Relations Officer NSCDC Headquarter Abuja on Thursday, the operation, led by Commandant AS Dandaura, resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the neutralization of two others.
According to Commandant Dandaura, the operation was intelligence-driven and lasted for five hours.
The kidnappers were engaged in a fierce gun battle, but the NSCDC’s superior firepower led to their defeat. Two suspects, Hassan Ibrahim and Ibrahim Hudu, were arrested, while two others, Mata and Yahaya Abubakar, were killed in the exchange of gunfire.
The NSCDC recovered several exhibits, including, one AK-47 assault rifle, one magazine 40 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, five different types of mobile phones, two knives, ₦7,500 in cash, and suspected charms
The NSCDC has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of people and their properties in Nasarawa State and across the nation..
The suspects arrested are cooperating with the ongoing investigation, and efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect and other members of the syndicate.
