The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has felicitated Igwe Kenneth Orizu, the traditional ruler of Nnewi, on his 100th birthday, describing him as the world’s longest-serving oldest living monarch.

In a statement, Udeze praised Igwe Orizu’s remarkable reign, which has brought development, peace, and prosperity to Nnewi, Anambra State, and Nigeria.

He highlighted the monarch’s exceptional wisdom, uprightness, and commitment to preserving the people’s culture and tradition.

The Speaker recalled Igwe Orizu’s notable achievement in 2009, when he climbed Mount Sinai in Israel at the age of 84, impressing pilgrims worldwide. Udeze affirmed that Igwe Orizu is a pride to Anambra State and a symbol of the traditional institution in Nigeria.

Udeze called on the federal government to honour Igwe Orizu by naming a public institution after him, recognizing his outstanding contributions.

He prayed for God’s continued blessings and good health for the monarch to continue his duties.

Igwe Kenneth Orizu, 111, is recognized as the world’s longest-serving oldest living monarch, with his mental and physical faculties still intact, a testament to his exceptional life.
