In an exclusive interview with our Senior Correspondent, Ekunkonye Junior, the National Chairman of SAD, Orji Nwafor-Orizu Esq, advised the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his followers to leave the PDP alone and join the All Progressives Congress (APC) or form their own political party.
“We members of the Society for Advancement of Democracy don’t think that such behaviour is advancing democracy,” Orizu said, referring to the recent trend of governors decamping to the APC.
He emphasized that governors should only decamp if their people wanted them to, adding that the SAD is interested in the electorates, not the political parties.
On the crisis within the PDP, Orizu stated that the party’s convention, which elected Turaki as national chairman, is the highest organ of the party, and its decisions should be respected.
“Turaki is a highly respected Senior Advocate of Nigeria. I know that he must have looked at the legal implications of what they are doing, and took a decision on what they are doing as the chairman,” Orizu said.
He advised Turaki to focus on reconciling with those who left the party and to lead the party with truth and justice.
Regarding the insecurity in the country, Orizu called on Nigerians to address the issue of killings and kidnappings, saying it’s not good for the country.
He also expressed disappointment with the President’s appointments, noting that people from the southeast are being overlooked.
On the threat of America addressing anomalies in Nigeria, Orizu said America should respect Nigeria’s sovereignty and not interfere in its internal affairs.
“I do not subscribe to America’s act of being the senior prefect of the world. America is not supposed to violate the international sanctuary of non-interference,” Orizu said.
He added that Nigerians should address the issue of insecurity, saying it’s not good for the country.
Regarding the sentence passed on Nnamdi Kanu, Orizu declined to comment, saying it’s best left to those handling the case.
