Legislator charges Ofodum led -LECAN to live up to expectations

Hon Chinedu Obika, the legislator representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency of Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has charged High Chief Vitus Ofodum, the newly elected national president of Licensed Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN) to use his knowledge in the industry to improve the electricity in Nigeria.

He said that based on the agelong knowledge Ofodum had in the industry, he has all it takes to deliver. He spoke to journalists at the inauguration of the newly elected leaders in Abuja on Thursday.

He however called his executives and member to give him the required support, which if done, according to him will go a long way to address the anomalies in the industry, even as he advised him to do everything legitimately possible to reduce quackery in the industry to the nearest minimum.

The newly elected executives of the national organization were inaugurated and sworn in within the week.

In his acceptance speech, High Chief Ofodum Vitus Ikenna expressed gratitude to the members of LECAN for placing their trust in him and his team.

He pledged to work tirelessly to promote quality and professionalism in the electrical contracting industry, focusing on capacity building, advocacy, and networking.

The National leader of the Association, High Chief Otunba Dele Akintola, earlier in his welcome address, congratulated the new leadership and urged them to lead with integrity, humility, and wisdom. He emphasized the importance of unity and called on members to support the new leadership.

A commissioner from Kogi State, Hon Mohammed Abdulmutalib, in his keynote address, highlighted the critical role of electrical contractors in Nigeria’s power sector development.

He commended LECAN for its efforts to promote quality and professionalism in the industry and assured the new leadership of Kogi State Government’s support and collaboration.

The event which has people from all works of life in attendance had as its theme: “Empowering Electrical Contractors for a Brighter Future”, resonates with the Federal Government’s efforts to improve the power sector and increase access to reliable electricity. LECAN, as a professional body, has a critical role to play in promoting quality and professionalism in the electrical contracting industry.
