NCoS gets first female spokesperson, Jane Osuji

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has appointed Chief Superintendent of Corrections Jane Osuji as its new Service Public Relations Officer, marking a historic milestone as the first woman to hold the position. Osuji, who hails from Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served in various capacities, including Assistant Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, and Press Secretary to three Ministers of Interior from 2015 to 2023.

According to a press statement signed within the week and made available to media houses by Ado Sale, Deputy Controller-General of Corrections (HR), for Controller-General of Corrections, Osuji’s appointment, effective immediately, follows the retirement of Deputy Controller of Corrections Umar Abubakar, who bowed out on November 19, 2025.

Osuji holds a BSc in Public Relations and Advertising from Lagos State University and an MPA from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.

Her extensive career includes serving under four Controllers General and completing specialized courses, including the Internal Security/Low Intensity Conflict Operations Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.

As the new spokesperson, Osuji is expected to leverage her expertise to enhance the NCoS’s communication and public engagement efforts. She is married with children and has been a staff member of the Public Relations Unit at the NCoS Headquarters in Abuja.
