Meeting my Dad’s Primary School pupil on Friday like today few weeks ago (21st November,225) at an event and after this amazing and exciting call to check up this evening make me want to drop this note about a great , wonderful educationist , Professor , standout Politician ,leader & mentor, Senator Professor David Iornem.
It’s truly heartwarming to witness the enduring impact of a teacher’s influence, especially when it spans across generations.
The story of my Daddy’s Primary School student, ( He says he was more than his Headmaster & teacher ,but a mentor , admirer ,guardian) now a professor, is a testament to the profound connections formed in education.
Through the efforts of Rev Fr. Jacob Akosu,my brother who was happy to inform Prof on inquiry (after discovering Fr was from Kwande) that Sir Robert Kandeor ( KSJI) his Headmaster was his uncle & very close friend to his Dad. Thank you Padre for the reunion.
This individual not only achieved academic success but also remained connected to his roots, tracing his family history, education and honoring the legacy of those who shaped his early life, like my late Dad.
The act of lavishly hosting the late Robert Kandeor’s wife and children in a grand and most honorable way sometime in 2023, then in 2024 & keeping in close touch with the family speaks volumes about the depth of this connection & appreciation to Teacher Kandeor..
It’s a beautiful example of how relationships nurtured in the past can blossom into acts of kindness and support in the present. This professor’s commitment to staying in touch with our family is a testament to the values instilled during his formative years.( Most of us forget , some of us cant even remember our Primary School teacher’s names) Hmmm
.
