The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion of Regular Course 06, the largest officer training programme in recent years, according to a press release signed by DCF P.O. Abraham, National PRO/Head, Corporate Services Federal Fire Service, National Headquarters and made available to News Headquarters over the week.
Over 700 cadets underwent rigorous training in fire suppression, emergency response, leadership development, and more, marking a major step forward in strengthening Nigeria’s fire safety and emergency response capacity.
The training programme, which lasted for nine weeks, was designed to equip the cadets with the necessary skills and knowledge to tackle emerging fire and emergency challenges in the country.
The cadets, drawn from across the country, were recruited in 2022 and 2024 and underwent intensive training in fire suppression, emergency response operations, leadership development, discipline, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure.
The Honourable Minister of Interior and Chairman, Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, commended the FFS for its commitment to capacity building and operational readiness.
The Minister’s address was delivered by the Secretary to the Board, Major General A.M. Jibril (rtd), who declared the parade open.
Speaking on the significance of the training, the Controller General, Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, stated that the Service has prioritised capacity building, operational readiness, and nationwide coverage to meet emerging fire and emergency challenges.
He noted that the successful training and passing out of over 700 cadets underscores ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening response capability, expanding professional manpower, deepening inter-agency collaboration, and improving service delivery to communities across the country.
The Secretary of the Board highlighted the importance of sustained training, discipline, and institutional collaboration in building resilient security agencies, commending the Federal Fire Service for successfully executing a training programme of such scale and impact.
The Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Her Excellency Mrs. Josephine Pyo, congratulated the cadets on their successful completion of the course and charged them to uphold the morals and core values of the Service.
Outstanding cadets were recognised for excellence, including ASF II Sarki Francis Uzomi, who was named Most Disciplined Cadet, ASF II Anyim Joshua, who was Best in Field Drills, and ASF II Opon Pius Dominic, who was Best in Academics.
The event attracted service chiefs from military and paramilitary agencies, traditional rulers, royal fathers, senior government officials, and other dignitaries, underscoring the national importance of the occasion.
With the successful completion of Regular Course 06, the Federal Fire Service has strengthened its manpower and operational readiness, ensuring faster response times and improved protection of lives and property nationwide.
