…. Hails Governor Alia’s commitment to merit

The Benue State Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, Hon. Denis Ter Iyaghigba, has congratulated Rev. Dr. Patrick Alumunku, OON, on his appointment as Board Chairman of the Benue Television Corporation (BTC).
He described the development as a well-deserved recognition of competence, integrity and professional excellence.
In a congratulatory message issued on Friday which he personally signed, the commissioner commended the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for what he described as a thoughtful and strategic decision that reflects the administration’s commitment to merit, quality leadership and effective governance.
Iyaghigba noted that the appointment of Rev. Dr. Alumunku was a clear acknowledgment of his distinguished career, intellectual depth and wealth of experience in the media and communications sector.
According to him, the new board chairman has over the years demonstrated remarkable leadership qualities, administrative competence and a thorough commitment to the development of society.
The commissioner expressed confidence that Alumunku’s vast industry knowledge and professional background would significantly strengthen the operations and strategic direction of the Benue Television Corporation.
He said the state-owned broadcasting outfit plays a critical role in informing, educating and promoting the cultural and developmental aspirations of the people of Benue State, adding that the corporation requires capable and visionary leadership to remain effective in the rapidly evolving media landscape.
Hon. Iyaghigba emphasized that Rev. Dr. Alumunku possesses the necessary capacity and experience to provide the leadership required to reposition the corporation for improved service delivery and greater impact.
“Your appointment is a clear recognition of your distinguished service, integrity, intimidating industry knowledge and commitment to the advancement of our state and nation,” the commissioner stated.
He further noted that the decision by Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia to appoint one of the most respected professionals in the industry demonstrates wisdom and foresight in governance.
According to Hon. Iyaghigba, the appointment reinforces the governor’s commitment to ensuring that capable and competent individuals are entrusted with key responsibilities in the administration of public institutions in the state.
He added that strategic appointments such as this would continue to strengthen governance structures, promote professionalism and enhance effective service delivery to the people of Benue State.
The commissioner also prayed for divine guidance and wisdom for the new chairman as he assumes the responsibility of providing leadership for the Benue Television Corporation.
Iyaghigba expressed optimism that under Alumunku’s leadership, the corporation would witness renewed growth, innovation and professionalism while playing an even more significant role in projecting government programmes and promoting development initiatives across the state.
Rev. Dr. Patrick Alumunku is widely respected for his contributions to journalism, broadcasting and public communication in Nigeria, and his appointment is expected to usher in a new phase of strategic leadership for the state broadcasting institution.
