A climate change activist, Bilbo Bassaterra has emphasised that ‘no one should have to go through the grief of an agonizing planet’.
Bilbo in a Facebook post on his timeline which accessed by our correspondent on Saturday, 30th December, 2023, said as much it hurts, he appear to have felt the environmental catastrophe more than any one.
“I don’t know if it hurts me more how things are or if everything stays the same, let nothing happen. The daily passage of normality occupies hundreds of thousands of lives trapped in a world spinning towards a bitter destiny.
The rest of his post reads:
“At best, we reproduce systemic dynamics while trying to break them. Curious species the human, so aware of itself and so alien to what it generates.
“No one born today will remember what life was like before the average temperature of the Earth exceeded 1.4°C above pre-industrial levels. Yet, their parents will worry about buying them the latest Star Wars teddy bear or instilling in them the importance of completing regular training.
“Can you be happy in a dying world?
Anyway, we won’t stop watering the flowers because in summer they wilt. In the end, tomorrow dawns”.
