In a heartfelt tribute to a long-time politician, community mobiliser and elder brother, Publisher Lubem Gena of the News Headquarters newspaper expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Honourable Apurugh Azembe.

The late Honourable Azembe, a prominent figure in the community and a respected politician, shared a special bond with Gena that dates back to the Publisher’s youthful days between 1989 and 1991 in Jato-Aka town.
Publisher Lubem Gena fondly recalled his time spent with Honourable Apurugh Azembe while residing with his grand maternal uncle Mr. Tswadue Chagba whose son, late Hiifan was a close friend of Honourable Azembe, emphasizing the shared memories and experiences that shaped their contact.
“Honourable Azembe was not just a friend of my elder brother, late Hiifan Tswadue, but a dear friend of the whole Tswadue family, circle of friends and acquaintances including my humble self. Honourable Apurugh left a lasting impact of generosity on everyone he met.
I recall vividly how he normally come to our house on his clean C-75 motorcycle classes in a white bababruga or agbada with his JVC 6 batteries radio. At that time, he was a councillor representing the fantastic people of Môôn ward in the Kwande local government Legislative assembly. He was outstandingly he rous and earnestly supported Hiifan who was then studying at the defunct School of Basic Science, North Bank, Makurdi”, Gena recalled.
During their time together in Jato-Aka town, both Gena and Azembe were known for their passion for community development and their unwavering commitment to serving the people.
News Headquarters gathered that their shared vision for a better future and dedication to public service laid the foundation for a strong friendship that endured the test of time.
As news of Honourable Azembe’s passing spread through the town on social media, Publisher Lubem Gena was seen visibly shaken by the loss of his dear political and community leader.
Gena described Azembe as a man of integrity, compassion, and wisdom, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In his tribute, Lubem Gena vowed to honor the memory of Honourable Apurugh Azembe by continuing their shared mission of advocating for the betterment of the community and upholding the values they both cherished.
“Honourable Azembe’s legacy will live on in our hearts and in the work we do to make our town a better place for future generations,” Gena affirmed.
