Benue must remain food basket of the nation, Alia insists

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has insisted that his administration will do everything possible to ensure that Benue State remains the food hub of the nation.

Governor Alia made this known Monday, March 11, 2024 when he joined the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Minna, Niger State to commission projects executed by Niger State Governor, Muhammed Umar Bago.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR was in Minna on state visit during which he flagged off Agric Mechanization Revolution For Food Security and also commissioned the newly built Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport Minna.

Governor Alia, while delivering a goodwill message at the event said he gladly accepted the challenge thrown to him by the Governor of Niger State, emphasizing the position of Benue State as a major food producing state in the country.

The Governor said he was observing the development keenly and he would do everything possible to ensure that Benue maintains her position as the food Basket of the nation.

He thanked the Governor of Niger State for setting the pace, saying it was a testament that it is not just about subsistence farming but farming as a full time business which can take care of the nation and even entire West Africa.

Governors of Lagos, Kwara, Kogi, and Ogun states, some former Governors and ministers were also present at the event.
