Governor Alia donates vehicles to Benue judiciary

Benue State Governor, Rev Fr.Hyacinth Alia, on Monday, donated six Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) to the Benue State Judiciary to ease movement of staff.

Making the donation in Makurdi, Governor Alia said the vehicles are part of the resolve of his administration to ensure the welfare and effective service delivery.

He commended the Judiciary for their services, urging them to do more to ensure that law and order are strictly maintained in the state.

Governor Alia who was represented by the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Public Order, Barr. Fidelis Mnyim, appreciated the Judiciary for putting the vehicles to good use for the benefit of the state.

Barr. Mnyim said four of the cars are for the Benue State High Court Judges while the other two are meant for the Judges of the Customary Court of Appeal Benue State.

He also thanked the Governor for promoting the rule of law particularly by granting autonomy to the judiciary in the state to perform optimally.

Recall that, during the just concluded National Judicial Review Summit which was put together by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), had commended the Benue State governor for granting autonomy to the Benue State judiciary, urging other state governors to emulate Governor Alia.

The Summit applauded the Governor and said for Governor Alia of Benue to have complied with section 121 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) by the fifth alteration Act, he has integrity and is ready to run a transparent Government.
