Governor Benue State, Rev Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Tuesday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment towards the welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the State, assuring that he will continue to sustain the payment of N15,000 to all corps Members and N100,000 to corps members who are medical doctors serving across the State.
He gave the assurance during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area of the State.
Speaking during the exercise, Governor Alia commended the corps members for their demonstration of good conduct and high level of commitment, saluting their ability to integrate freely among themselves and keeping aside the diversities of their backgrounds.
He advised them to remain diligent in carrying out all assignments given to them, just as he assured them that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure their security and safety in the state.
Governor Alia, who observed the enormous damage caused by erosion on the camp during his earlier visit, assigned Architect Samuel Agule to start construction of drainages immediately.
He applauded the NYSC Benue State Coordinator, Mr. Abe Dankaro Ashumate, his Management Team, and other camp officials for their exemplary leadership and care towards corps members.
Governor Alia, on behalf of the Commander-in-Chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu (GCFR), declared the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course for Corps members deployed to Benue State closed.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Abe Dankaro Ashumate, who described Governor Alia as the living and unwavering hope of Benue people, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the commencement of payment of 15,00 for corpse members and 1000k for graduates of medicine.
He reminded the Governor of the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME) prepared by corps members for the construction of drainages on the camp and appealed to the Governor to consider it.
A statement by Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Media Isaac Uzaan, quoted “Dankaro to have sought more cooperation from Corps Employing Institution in Benue State towards the continuous commitment to the NYSC national policy in dealing with corps members, especially regarding the days reserved for Community Development Service.
