The House of Representatives Committee on Defence has called on Nigerians to provide greater support to the nation’s Armed Forces to sustain their recent successes.
The Committee Chairman, Babajimi Benson, highlighted that the achievements in various operations across the country showcase Nigeria’s military personnel’s bravery, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation.
During a briefing with journalists, the House Committee on Defence urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a safer and more secure Nigeria.
The House commended the Armed Forces for their remarkable achievements and steadfast dedication, emphasizing that these accomplishments reflect the resilience and sacrifice of the men and women in uniform, who tirelessly work to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.
Benson highlighted the numerous victories against insurgents, bandits, and other criminal elements threatening Nigeria’s peace and security, noting that these victories not only demonstrate the strategic prowess of military leadership but also the dedication and bravery of the soldiers.
“The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has continually delivered significant blows to terrorist groups in the Lake Chad Region through a series of daring operations,” he said.
“In Abia State’s Ihechiowa community of Arochukwu Local Government Area, the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, has impressively intensified efforts against the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). Our troops raided and cleared IPOB/ESN camps in the Umudi Forest and Umuaku areas of Umunneochi Local Government Area (LGA), liberating the communities from the clutches of miscreants and terrorists.”
“Similarly, the Nigerian Navy Ship Soroh discovered and deactivated an illegal refining site in the Isonogbene area of Brass Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. Additionally, the Nigerian Air Force carried out impressive airstrikes in Katsina State, resulting in the elimination of over 80 terrorists.”
