The Managing Director (MD), Emma Ben Nigeria Limited, Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mazi Emmanuel Benson has urged the President Tinubu – led Federal Government (FG), to as a matter of seriousness and urgency, close down Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and give the management of Dangote Refineries free hand to sell their products.
The business mogul addressed few journalists Thursday in his office in the nation’s capital.
Sending his message across, Mr Benson faulted in its entirety the way and manner the management of the NNPCL has been managing the petroleum industry, wondering why people in a country blessed with among others, crude oil hardly see the products to buy, and if seen, according to him are sold at unaffordable and unimaginable rate.
He however believed that if given free hand in the selling of their products, Dangote’s products won’t only be everywhere, but also affordable.
Accusing management of NNPCL of having cabals who go about managing the organisation and the petroleum industry to the detriment of the masses, he said that Dangote himself informed that the NNPCL directed him to be buying the crude in Dollars, which he said, if not stopped, will contribute in no small measure to give the country unfavourable ballance of trade.
Reiterating the reason why the NNPCL should be closed down, as well as urging private companies and individuals to emulate Dangote and build more refineries, the business man therefore said that he has observed with dismay that promises of NNPCL management to make Kaduna and Port Harcourt refineries functional from last June and August 2024 respectively, was empty promises.
“Let the NNPCL be closed down. Let them give free hand to Dangote to sell his products and let the marketers have assess to buy directly from Dangote,” he concluded.
