CJN flags off of construction of 40 housing units for judges in FCT

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, has flagged off the construction of 40 housing units for judges in the Katampe District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to a press release from the Assistant Director, Press, Office of the FCT Minister, Rabu Umar Musa Tuesday.

This groundbreaking ceremony, which took place on Monday, was attended by prominent figures, including FCT Minister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister of State Mariya Mahmoud, and principal officers of the National Assembly.

Justice Kekere-Ekun hailed this project as a significant milestone in enhancing the welfare of judicial officers in the FCT. She emphasized that providing comfortable accommodations for judges is crucial in ensuring they can perform their duties with independence, impartiality, and integrity. The Chief Justice also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, praising the FCT Administration’s initiative in implementing this project.

The FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding the rule of law and administration of justice. He highlighted the government’s efforts to ensure the independence of the judiciary, including improvements in judicial officers. conditions of service, allowances, and salaries.

This project aims to provide a secure and tranquil environment for judicial officers to carry out their duties effectively. The construction of these judges’ quarters is expected to boost the capacity of judicial officers to serve with dedication and commitment to justice.
