President Bola Tinubu’s administration has announced a last-minute postponement of the 2025 budget presentation to the National Assembly.
Initially scheduled for Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the presentation has been rescheduled for Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
This development has sparked curiosity among Nigerians, who are eager to know the contents of the proposed N47.9 trillion budget. The budget aims to collect N34.8 trillion in revenues, with 56% of it coming from oil.
The delay in presenting the budget has raised concerns about the administration’s ability to address the country’s economic challenges.
This is not the first time the budget presentation has been delayed. In November 2023, the budget was presented late, and members of the National Assembly accused the leadership of railroading them into passing a budget they had not seen.
As the nation awaits the official explanation for the delay, all eyes are on President Tinubu’s administration to deliver a budget that addresses the country’s economic challenges.
The administration is expected to issue an official statement explaining the reason for the postponement within the next few hours.
