Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I Jibrin, has expressed optimism that the 2025 budget will revolutionize Nigeria if fully implemented. He commended President Bola Tinubu for his political will to bring prosperity to the country, stating that the budget proposal demonstrates the government’s intention to restore peace and rebuild prosperity.¹
The budget, christened “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity,” prioritizes defense and security, allocating N4.91 trillion to address the country’s insecurity challenges. This move, according to Senator Jibrin, shows the government’s readiness to tackle the problem head-on.
The 2025 budget has been hailed as a bold fiscal strategy aimed at addressing Nigeria’s persistent infrastructure gaps and development challenges. With a nominal increase of 74.18%, reaching N47.9 trillion, the budget is expected to have a significant impact on the country’s economy.
However, experts have noted that the budget’s success will depend on effective revenue generation, debt management, project execution, and addressing inflation and exchange rate volatility.
