Honourable Minister, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has delivered a New Year message to residents of the FCT, highlighting the administration’s achievements in 2024 and outlining plans for 2025.
Wike expressed his gratitude to residents for their cooperation and support in implementing the administration’s policies and programs. He commended their commitment to peaceful coexistence and care for each other throughout the past year.
Despite the challenges faced in 2024, the FCT recorded significant achievements, including:
Among his achievements in the nation’s capital, include: construction of new urban and rural roads, improving connectivity and accessibility for residents; enhancing economic activities in rural communities, creating opportunities and improving livelihoods; rehabilitating several schools, ensuring children learn in conducive environments and receive quality education; providing over 100 vehicles to security agencies and implementing innovative strategies, yielding positive results and ensuring residents’ safety; creating the mandate secretariat for youth development; improving efficiency, accountability, and service delivery and; fostering an enabling environment for foreign and local investments, leading to visible economic growth, particularly in rural areas.
Looking ahead to 2025, Wike outlined the administration’s focus areas, including: driving economic growth and improving quality of life; ensuring residents have access to essential services; partnering with the private sector to ease transportation issues and ensure smooth mobility; expanding programs to harness young people’s energy and creativity for FCT development and; building upon achievements in these sectors.
Wike urged residents to meet their civic obligations by paying taxes, dues, and levies, emphasizing the importance of sustainable development and active participation.
The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the FCT into one of the best capital territories in the world, supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and working together in unity and cooperation.
