Delta North Senator, Nwoko decamps to APC

By Ekuson Nw’Ogbunka, Abuja

At long last, a high ranking senator, Prince Ned Nwoko has formally announced their departure from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The senator, who represents Delta North Senatorial District, made the announcement in a formal letter to the President of the Senate.

The senator cited the PDP’s persistent crises, including internal divisions and a lack of clear leadership, as the primary reason for their decision. They expressed disappointment that the party, once a formidable platform for democratic participation and national development, had been weakened by these unresolved conflicts.

According to the senator, the decision to defect was not taken lightly. They engaged in deep reflection and extensive consultations with their constituents, political associates, and stakeholders across Delta North Senatorial District.

The senator emphasized that their constituents’ interests and concerns were a significant factor in their decision-making process.

The senator’s defection is seen as a significant blow to the PDP, which has been struggling to maintain unity and cohesion within its ranks.

The APC, on the other hand, is likely to welcome the senator’s decision, as it strengthens their position in the Senate. The development is also expected to have implications for the political landscape of Delta State.

The senator’s formal letter of defection has been received by the Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, who is expected to acknowledge the decision and take necessary steps to facilitate the senator’s transition to the APC.

The development is likely to generate significant interest and debate within the Nigerian political sphere.
