The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has announced with deep sadness the passing of Elder Gabriel Gwajime, a seasoned journalist, on Monday, February 10, 2025, in Abuja.
Gwajime, who was 60 years old, died after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in journalism and a commitment to truth and integrity.
Until his death, Gwajime worked with the Citizens Watch Advocacy Initiative (CWAI) and had served in various capacities with several mainstream Nigerian newspapers.
He was also a Board member of the Guild of Civil Societies and Media Executives for Equity, Justice, and Transparency in Nigeria (GOCMEJ).
Throughout his illustrious career, Gwajime reported on numerous significant events, providing insightful analysis and in-depth coverage that informed and engaged audiences.
He was known for his dedication to uncovering the truth and his passion for promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
The NUJ FCT Council has described Gwajime’s passing as a great loss to the journalism profession and the nation at large.
His contributions to the field of journalism will be deeply missed, and his legacy will continue to inspire upcoming journalists.
The Council has extended its condolences to Gwajime’s family, friends, and colleagues, praying that they find the strength to bear this irreparable loss
