The outgoing Chairman of the Dei-Dei Building Materials Dealers Association, Dei Dei International Building Materials Market, Dei Dei, Abuja, Chief Kingsley Chuma Orabuego, has highlighted his administration’s achievements during his three-year tenure. In a valedictory address, Chief Orabuego expressed gratitude to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for infrastructural provision and appealed for market expansion to accommodate freed apprentices and others joining trading.
Speaking on his achievements while in office, Chief Orabuego informed that his administration improved security in the market, stopping shop burglaries and installing solar lights and CCTV cameras to enhance security; bringing in police station and jointly with their counterparts of timber sheds and scrap dealers, putting up befitting structure for the station.
He stated the completion and commissioning of the Prof. Ikejiani Clark Hall, generating N12 million annually from warehouse rentals, and attracting the re-construction of new entrances to the market.
Re- crediting his efforts for the establishment of a police station in the market, which has been helpful in maintaining security, he noted that his administration improved electricity supply in the market, a significant departure from the past.
While also stating that his administration achieved peace and stability in the market, creating a conducive environment for traders, Chief Orabuego appealed to the government to expand the market to accommodate freed apprentices and others joining trading, ensuring that the market can cater to the growing number of traders, if expanded .
He however prayed that God would intervene to provide a leader who will lead the market with fear of God and selflessness, just as he hailed the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his efforts in providing infrastructure in the market, including the road leading to the market, and expressed gratitude for his support. He urged the Minister to continue his good work.
