Benue Marine and Blue Economy Commissioner appreciates Dr. Orhii over commitment to developmental efforts
The Benue State Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, Honourable Denis Ter Iyaghigba, has expressed deep appreciation to former Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Paul Orhii, for his continued commitment and willingness to support the development of the nation in general and Benue State in particular.
Hon. Iyaghigba had the honour and privilege of meeting with Dr. Orhii, a distinguished Benue son and technocrat, where both leaders held meaningful discussions on issues of mutual concern, particularly as they relate to the evolving blue economy sector and sustainable development initiatives in the state.
Both personalities hail from Ushongo local government area of the state.
During the meeting, the Commissioner acknowledged Dr. Orhii’s vast experience in national service and his invaluable insights into strengthening governance, innovation, and inter-sectoral collaboration.
Hon. Iyaghigba noted that the engagement reflected a shared vision for harnessing the state’s marine and blue economy resources as part of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia’s agenda to unlock the economic potential of Benue through the blue economy.
He described Dr. Orhii as a “source of inspiration and pride to the Benue people,” commending his humility, depth of knowledge, and continued passion for contributing to the growth of his home state.
The Commissioner further emphasized that such interactions with seasoned professionals and accomplished elders from Benue state and particularly Ushongu local government area, are essential for building partnerships that align with the government’s development objectives.
“The discussion with Dr. Orhii was both honest and inspiring. His readiness to support at all times is deeply appreciated,” Hon. Iyaghigba said, adding that the state’s Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy remains open to collaborative ideas that can drive investment, job creation, and sustainable resource management.
In his remarks, Dr. Orhii expressed admiration for the government’s proactive steps in exploring new economic frontiers through the marine and blue economy sector.
He also commended Hon. Iyaghigba for his dedication, vision, and leadership, assuring him of his continued support and advocacy for policies that promote the economic and social well-being of Benue people.
The meeting, described as cordial and productive, is seen as part of the Commissioner’s broader engagement with professionals and stakeholders aimed at positioning Benue State as a key player in Nigeria’s emerging blue economy landscape.
