…Kalu, Soludo mourns
An ex-governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, is dead.
Ezeife, aged 85, breathed his last at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja, on Thursday, the family said in a press statement signed on its behalf by Chief Rob Ezeife.
The statement said, “On behalf of the Ezeife Dynasty of Igbo-Ukwu, I wish to announce the promotion to glory of our most distinguished son, ‘Okwadike’, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, CON, a former Federal Permanent Secretary, a former governor of Anambra State, a former Political Adviser to the President and former Presidential aspirant.
“This sad event took place yesterday at 6 pm at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja.”
“More details about the deceased and the arrangements for his state burial will be announced later.”
Former Governor of Abia State and Chairman, Senate Committee on Privatization, Dr Orji Kalu, has described the passing of the former Governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, as a huge loss to Ndigbo and Nigeria in general.
Acknowledging the invaluable contributions of the late statesman to nation building, Kalu extolled the leadership qualities of the deceased, adding that the late politician was a notable figure in national politics.
The former governor, while commiserating with the government and people of Anambra state, called on the Ezeife dynasty to sustain the good deeds of the late seasoned administrator.
In a condolence message, Kalu stressed that the late statesman lived a purposeful life.
“On behalf of the people of Abia North Senatorial district, I mourn the passing of former Governor of Anambra state, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife,” Kalu stated.
“The late politician contributed to the social, economic and political development of Nigeria through various platforms.
On his part, the governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, equally mourned the death of Dr Ezeife.
Soludo in a statement made through his press secretary, Christian Aburime, said Dr. Ezeife was a man of many hats, a titan in the annals of the state and Nigeria.
