The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken a significant step in its fight against corruption with the inauguration of new heads of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) and the unveiling of a robust Corruption Prevention Strategy. The Commandant General (CG) of NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, charged the newly appointed ACTU heads to lead by example and enforce compliance without fear or favor, according to a press release from CSC Afolabi Babawale, PRO NSCDC Headquarters, Abuja on Thursdays.
The CG, represented by Deputy Commandant General (Administration) DCG Adeyinka Fasiu Ayinla, emphasized that the new strategy is designed to reduce misconduct, promote due process, and reinforce internal discipline within the Corps. The initiative is part of the NSCDC’s commitment to upholding integrity, transparency, and accountability.
The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, stressed that corruption undermines service delivery and erodes public confidence. He assured the NSCDC of the ICPC’s continued partnership in championing preventative measures.
The event also featured the presentation of integrity awards to deserving officers and staff, including the CG, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, who received the Integrity Champion and Visionary Award.
