High Chief Vitus Ofodum, National President of the Licensed Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN), and the Ikenga Mbosi ancient community in Anambra State has extended warm congratulations to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike on his 58th birthday, proclaiming that Wike has “outperformed” his competitors, especially in infrastructure delivery.
Speaking on behalf of LECAN to journalists in his Abuja office, Ofodum lauded Wike’s relentless focus on completing abandoned projects and launching new ones since assuming the FCT portfolio in August 2023.
The LECAN national president highlighted Wike’s “Mr. Project” reputation, noting that the minister has prioritized road networks, water supply, and security infrastructure across the FCT.
“Since becoming FCT Minister in August 2023, Nyesom Wike has focused heavily on continuing and completing abandoned projects while also initiating new ones, particularly in road networks, water supply, and security infrastructure,” Ofodum stated, emphasizing the minister’s commitment to tangible development.
Among the specific projects cited by Ofodum are the construction of Collector Road CN2 (Emmanuel I. Ogala Street) linking Arterial N16 and N20 in Katampe District, and the full-scope development of Arterial Road N1 from Wuye District to Ring Road II.
He also pointed to the Northern Parkway project, which connects Ring Road II to Ring Road III, aimed at easing traffic congestion in the capital.
Ofodum further enumerated Wike’s initiatives to enhance connectivity, including the development of ILS 02, ILS 03, ILS 11, and MAR 24 streets, as well as the reworking of the road from Karu interchange to Customs Clinic junction with expanded rehabilitation of adjoining routes.
“Numerous roads in satellite towns have been initiated to boost rural economies,” he added, mentioning Gaba-Tukulo road in Bwari, roads in Ushafa, War College, Army Checkpoint areas, and a 15 km road from A2 Junction to Pai in Kwali Area Council.
The LECAN president also underscored Wike’s push for modern security infrastructure, noting the procurement and installation of new solar‑powered streetlights across major areas such as Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse, Central Business District, and the Airport Expressway.
“These lights improve security and aesthetics,” Ofodum remarked, linking the initiative to broader efforts to enhance safety in the capital.
Additional key projects highlighted include expansion of water supply to satellite towns in Bwari and Karu, construction in Jabi District, and the design and construction of residences for the President of the Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Chief Judge of the FCT, and President of the Industrial Court—aimed at promoting judicial independence and security. Ofodum also noted the commencement of 12 new Divisional Police Stations with staff quarters, two in each of the six area councils of the FCT.
In his birthday message, Ofodum urged Wike to “continue to go about his lawful duties with the fear of God and total adherence to the law,” reinforcing the call for sustained integrity in public service.
The LECAN leader’s praise echoes broader national acclaim, including President Bola Tinubu’s description of Wike as “one of the shining stars of my cabinet” and recognition of his role in resolving a 14‑year delay on the Apo‑Karshi Road project.
As Wike celebrates his 58th birthday, the LECAN president’s salute underscores the minister’s standout performance amid his peers, positioning him as a pivotal figure in the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s capital.
