Borno govt introduce App for secure and efficient information management

The Borno State Government has introduced an innovative e-staff Web App designed to safeguard sensitive information within government institutions from unauthorized access and leaks.

The initiative was launched by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, during a five-day capacity-building for information officers across the state.

Professor Tar, represented by the Director of Administration at the Ministry, Babagana Mustapha, emphasized the app’s potential to strengthen the integrity of the state’s civil service. He highlighted how it would enhance information security, streamline government operations, and foster public trust, particularly in the age of social media.

Lead Consultant Abdullahi Maude described the platform as a secure, online solution that effectively manages sensitive data while mitigating the risk of unauthorized access. “The app not only controls access but also encrypts data and tracks user activities, ensuring a transparent log of who accessed specific information and when,” Maude explained.

Also, the Director of Training and Research at the consulting firm, Dr. Mukhtar El-Kasim, underscored the app’s importance in enhancing communication within the state’s administrative framework. He noted that it improves confidentiality while facilitating communication flow and offers templates for official memos and complex administrative tasks.

The Facilitator Dr. Barroon Ahmad who stressed the need for comprehensive training for public servants to maximize the app’s benefit also called for improvements in infrastructure and policy to ensure reliable internet access, which is critical for the app’s effective use.

The workshop, themed “Misinformation and Information Leakages as Challenges to Human Resources Administration in the New Media Era,” drew participation from senior administrators and information officers from both state and local governments.

The event featured insights from several experts on the evolving challenges posed by new media in the management of human resources.
