Former chairman, Umuoma Age Grade in Akwuoba, Ogbunka, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Charles Eleh has called for reactivation of the age grade.
Chief Eleh made the call while addressing journalists in the ancient city on Thursday.
Disappointed at the way the age grade has been lagging behind, due to the inability of the executive to live up to expectation and the inability of the members to elect – in place, new executive, Chief Charles Eleh said that the age grade when formed was promising.
Reiterating the need for the members to elect in place, new and capable officers who will run the affairs of the association, he added that should the age grade come back to its lost glory, the village will move to the expected level. He therefore noted that the age grade would have achieved a lot, had it been that they maintained the speed at which the age grade was moving.
“I am using this medium to call for the reactivation not Umuoma Age Grade, due to the importance of it in the developed, progress, love and unity the age grade has been bringing in the village and community in general. I blame the president executive for not moving the association forward.
“I also call for the election of new and capable officers to stear the affairs of the age grade. With capable officer in elected to man the affairs of the age grade, there will be positive change in the village. Should this age grade made to come back to its lost glory, it will be beneficial to members and non members, and this association of this great indigenes of Akwuoba would have achieved a lot,” Chief Charles Eleh boasted.
Similarly, Chief Charles Anyachor, a prominent member of the association joined in the call for the reactivation of the age grade. However, prominent among members who spoke at length on the need to start the age grade all over again were Okechukwu Obi and Abbanobi-Eku Onyekachukwu.
Umuoma Age grade was formed in the year 1982, with the aims and objectives to promote progress, unity and love among members of similar
